What This Bill Does

This legislation strengthens Tennessee’s voter ID and in-person voting procedures to ensure elections are secure, transparent, and easy to verify—for voters and election officials alike.

Voter ID Requirements

Under this proposal, voters must present one physical form of voter identification when voting in person.

Acceptable voter ID must:

• Be physical (not digital, not on a phone)

• Include the voter’s name, photograph, and current residential address

• Show an expiration date

• Have been issued using documented proof of U.S. citizenship

• Indicate the voter meets eligibility requirements, including citizenship

Digital IDs or digital address verification are not allowed

Digital documents or digital sources are explicitly prohibited.
